Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-04-27

Bhashya is a privacy tool. It would be embarrassing if our own privacy practices were anything less than excellent. This page exists to be brutally specific about what we do and do not collect.

What we collect

When you visit a website, the Bhashya extension sends one piece of information to our server: the domain name of the site you are on (for example, airbnb.com). That's it. We use this to look up or generate a grade for that domain.

What we do not collect

What stays only on your device

These live in your browser's local IndexedDB storage. Uninstalling the extension deletes them.

How grading works

When you ask for a grade on a domain we have not seen recently, our server fetches that website's publicly-published privacy policy and terms of service from the open internet and passes the text to a large language model for analysis. We do not fetch any pages that require authentication.

Third parties

The grading server runs on Cloudflare Workers. We use language model APIs from Google (Gemini), Groq, Cerebras, and Mistral to perform the analysis. None of these providers receive any information about you — only the public policy text of the website being scored.

Notifications

If you "follow" a site, the extension uses your browser's built-in notifications to ping you when that site's policy text changes. Notifications are generated locally — no push service is involved.

Children

Bhashya is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from them. (We don't knowingly collect data from anyone, but stating it explicitly for completeness.)

Changes to this policy

If we materially change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and surface a notice in the extension. (Yes, we will eat our own dog food and notify our users when our terms change.)
